Spencer is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate who understands how people can feel out of sync and want to connect at the same time.
His approach is welcoming, non-judgmental and humanistic. He views people with unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruence. Spencer believes all people have the ability to change, heal, and grow provided they experience support and the right environment. He focuses on creating safe space where partners can express themselves, explore their emotions and strengthen their relationships. He invites his clients to live in ways they never imagined. He also recognizes that creating lasting change requires a lot of courage and awareness.
Spencer is a graduate of West Virginia University (B.A. Communication M.A. Clinical Mental Health Counseling) and he has a passion for working in the areas of attachment, communication and relational safety.
Formally trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), Spencer helps couples recognize where they get stuck. By identifying patterns and using a step-by-step process, Spencer helps couples describe their patterns and stop the negative cycle. He understands the power of a negative cycle and that validation and relational safety are a missing link within many relationships.
Spencer is also trained in EMDR, a highly effective method used in the treatment of PTSD. He has special interests in the areas of trauma and self-discovery. Spencer’s primary focus is being of service by providing non-judgmental, safe, collaborative space where people can explore, be vulnerable and empower themselves while strengthening their relationships.
Spencer’s experience includes working with neurodivergent individuals as well as those experiencing trauma, grief and anxiety.
