Beth is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and is certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. She specializes in helping couples identify, understand, and repair an endless cycle that creates pain and disconnection in their relationship.
She is a graduate of Appalachian State University and Pfeiffer University (M.A. Marriage and Family Therapy). Through her studies, Beth fell in love with helping couples and developed a passion for Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the most empirically validated approach to couple therapy.
She utilizes this collaborative, no-blame approach to help couples struggling with disconnection, miscommunication, betrayal, and trauma to strengthen and rebuild their relationship. Beth is exceptionally well trained and has achieved certification in this model.
Beth also works with individuals in need of support. She has helped clients struggling with anxiety, depression, loss, and major life transition. She walks side by side with her clients to navigate delicate emotions, find rejuvenation, and establish peace.
Beth has a wide range of experience working with people of various backgrounds and lifestyles. She places importance on providing a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere for exploration, awareness, and restoration.
Beth is a member of the following professional organizations:
- North Carolina Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (NCAMFT)
- American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT)
- International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT)
Beth loves being a mom and enjoys spending spare time with her husband and young daughter. She is an enthusiastic sports fan and rarely misses a Charlotte Hornets or Carolina Panthers game.
Beth understands the challenges a new baby creates in a family. In order to support couples during this joyous and exhausting time, Beth makes house calls to new parents upon request. This is especially helpful when couples want to focus on their relationship, yet find it difficult to coordinate counseling sessions away from home and baby. “Beth McCain has been our therapist for the last year. Without Beth, we would not have been able to repair our marriage of 20 years. She is a true gem. Thoughtful, smart, and experienced, she will compassionately guide you in restoring your relationship. Beth is one of only eight ICEEFT certified EFT therapists in the Charlotte area, so a rare gem as well. Many therapists list EFT in their bios, but are not certified in EFT therapy. EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) has been shown to be the best approach for couple’s therapy. Before selecting Beth, we screened 17 therapists (no exaggeration) in the Charlotte area or offering online therapy. After our initial conversation with Beth, we were certain she was the right therapist for us. What a great choice it has been! We look forward to our weekly session with Beth as a way to continue to better connect in our own relationship. We are such a different couple today than we were a year ago. If you are considering couples therapy, Beth has our highest recommendation and we also strongly recommend selecting a therapist that uses EFT for couple’s therapy. Thank you Beth!”
